Disabilities Assistance Payee Services (DAPS) is a Social Security Administration approved representative payee service. We provide financial management of Social Security benefits for individuals identified by the Social Security Administration. Our objective, coupled with social service treatment teams, is to form a relationship with our clients and to successfully manage individual funds and insure financial stability. Management of social security benefits include:
- Medical and dental expenses
- Personal care items
- Rehabilitation expenses (if needed)
After all current expenses are paid, the remaining funds may be used to
- Pay past due bills
- Support dependents
- Provide entertainment
- Save money
Why and Who Needs a Payee
A Representative Payee is needed for an adult judged legally incompetent by a State court, for a minor child, if the Social Security Administration determines a legally competent adult is unable to manage or direct the management of his or her own benefits.
In order to receive service that DAPS provides, you must complete the required documents. To do this, simply click the Forms link then click the intake application. Once you complete the application you can send it via e-mail, fax or mail. If the application is received via e-mail or fax, we will contact you within two business days. Applications sent through the mail please allow three to five days for contact.
